Kingpin: Lili St. Germain

The first 80% of this book was just as bad as the first one. Then, for some reason, the last 20% was slightly better. I honestly still haven't figured out why though. Probably because Dornan finally shows that he truly is a piece of shit.

The characters are still fucked up and really just bad people, but now the story is...interesting? I guess?

Dornan has gone downhill mentally in this one. He gets crazier and more dangerous throughout the book, and it seems like he just snaps at the end. Mariana has finally grown some balls, and she has almost nothing left to lose. In this installment, she is sneaky, stealthy, and very dangerous. John is the only character that I have come to enjoy reading about. He may not be a good person, but in these books he's practically a saint.

These books are considered "dark romance" but these are darker than dark. I mean, seriously. If you don't like dub-con, slavery, and some really fucked up shit, I would stay away from these books. Far, far away.

The books are written well, just not a plot that I enjoy.

I really hope the next one is somewhat interesting. I came close to quitting this one a few times. And still might in the next book.
